Strange Passion                                   Dr. Annie John The little bird ached with bleeding wings Flapping violently at the bars sought escape But when it was time to fly away.... She had fallen in Love with the Cage. The tall prison walls, prevented him a view outside Defeated, struggled hard to break through But when he gained his freedom.... He had fallen in Love with the Wall's solidarity. The plants hated him and his scissors He trimmed them to discipline their unruliness But when it was time adorn someone's garden.... They had fallen in Love with Gardner . The water vapor locked up in the pregnant cloud Suffocated, Sought release  But by the time cloud burst.... She had fallen in Love with the Sky. Rejection, Isolation and Solitude killed her instinct to live Died a million times every moment But when proved innocent.... ...

Father Dr Annie John You had been a pillar of strength A mighty rock in testing times A soothing balm in painful moments You had been a light house  Protecting me in wreckful times Guiding me in the right direction You held me by little finger And walked me along life's shore Answering all my simple queries I could look up to you always For you had a solution to all my anxieties Holding my hand you led me through life's tumultuous path There was an aura about you Which held me in awe Your magical persona amazed me endless Life has never been the same since you left I long for you and the happy times There is a vast expanse between us  And till I get to the other shore I know you are watching And protecting me Under your mighty wings.

Abstract: Diasporic writings occupy a note worthy position in literature.  It helps construct new, identities in addition to the quest for one’s roots.  Travel, dislocation, quest for identity, a voyage down memory’s lane etc form the theme of the writings.  It is said that diasporic writers are people who live on the margin of two countries and unable to find the centre write from the periphery. The aim of the present paper is to investigate the diasporic tendencies and to trace the diasporic features. The term ‘ Diaspora’ literally means ‘to be scattered’ .
