Why this Competition?

A.R. Burla Mahila Varishtha Mahavidyalaya, Solapur constantly organizes many competitions to create a platform for UG and PG students. After the grand success of A National Level E-Essay Writing Competition in the month of June, 2020 we are coming up with A National Level E-Poetry Writing Competition. Poetry is important because it helps us understand and appreciate the world around us. Poetry, if we embrace it, can offer us a way to empathize and understand one another. Here we are organizing ‘A National E-Level Poetry Competition’, a literary platform which can help you to exploit your hidden talent and give vent to your emotions through words.

*Life/ Death
* Human Emotions
* War/ Peace
* Friendship
*Triumph/ Tragedy

Guidelines for the Contestants

-A poem in its entirety must be an original work by the person entering the contest. *Plagiarism is a serious offense with serious consequences.

-Each contestant should send only one poem.

-Poetry can be written on subjects mentioned above.

-There is no entry fee for this competition.

-All poems must be written in English.

-Poems should not be more than 20-25 lines.

-Adhere to basic rules of capitalization:
·         Do not type the entire poem in capital letters.
·         Do not capitalize the first letter of every word.
·         Only capitalize words that are proper nouns (i.e. names and places).
-Poems containing language that is vulgar, offensive, or wholly inappropriate will not be accepted.
-Include your name and other    information (College name, Mobile Number, Email Id) at the end of your poem.
-Poem should be sent in MS WORD (Times New Roman, Font Size 12 Title- Bold & Font Size 14)

-The Poems will have to be mailed to- arbmengdept2006@gmail.com before 25th July 2020

 -Top 20 Poems will be declared on 5th August 2020

Notification

All winners will be notified by email or by telephone. The winning entries will be published on Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/Dept-Of-English-A-R-Burla-Mahila-Mahavidyalaya-Solapur-104966131219053/) and

Blogger (https://englishlinguafranka.blogspot.com/2020/06/national-level-e-poetry-writing.html) of the College.


JUDGING PROCESS:

Contestants will be judged on poetic technique, effectiveness, style, and creativity. Top 20 Poems will be selected for second round i.e Presentation Round. The winners will be selected on the basis of the content of the poem and presentation style.

Prizes:

Prize winning poetry presentations will be uploaded on the college Youtube Channel. Prize winners and all contestants will receive E-Certificates.

Abstract: Diasporic writings occupy a note worthy position in literature.  It helps construct new, identities in addition to the quest for one’s roots.  Travel, dislocation, quest for identity, a voyage down memory’s lane etc form the theme of the writings.  It is said that diasporic writers are people who live on the margin of two countries and unable to find the centre write from the periphery.
